Motorhome Trip Kamloops, Etc, September 2017

We headed out from Predator on Friday, September 8 early as we have a tee time in Tobiano, so a two hour drive, should be nice and leisurely. More smoke today and some cloud, we think as it is very hazy. So the route takes us on 97 thru Falkland and 45 minutes into the trip we encounter a big traffic jam. We immediately think fire and are scanning the hills when I notice that vehicles are being turned around and lots of emergency vehicles arriving. A guy is making his way up the traffic lineup and advising to turn around and follow the traffic. The detour takes down 5 km of narrow winding gravel road with lots of semis trying to get by each other. With the motorhome, I had to stop at a straight section with wheels in the ditch to let the semis pass. Had to yell at a few of them just to straighten them out. We even encountered two more emergency vehicles on the gravel road trying to get to the other end of the road. Lots of fun but we made it and later heard that it was a head on collision being fatal to both drivers. Hearing a way too much of these accidents this year, smoke maybe, I do not know, but travel cannot be taken for granted and our God has a big part for our safety.

Tobiano Golf Course is outstanding and plenty tough. Conditions were a little windy, so it made a tough golf course tougher. We had lightening after 9 holes so had to pack it in, too bad. And rain as well, a whole 1 mm, I think.

We made our way to the Kamloops RV Campsite and settled in mid afternoon. The campground gave discounted tickets to the BC Wildlife Park next door, so since we had a couple of extra hours, we toured it. A small zoo really, but very nice with natural exhibits and a wide array of animals. Wow, it was a cooler day, so the animals were really active. This Park takes on a lot of injured wildlife throughout the province and cares for them. Very worthwhile visit.

Another interesting ride. You should have started this motor home travelling years ago! 😀
Never heard of Tobiano before. Or the BC Wildlife Park. I guess we need to stop looking for adventure on other continents!
