Motorhome Trip – Banff Springs Golf – September 12/17

It is the fall time now in the mountains, and the morning felt like it. Trees are starting to change which paints the landscape with colours that we loved to travel to with the kids years ago to enjoy the fall time. We had a later teetime so a leisurely morning followed by a trip to Lake Minnewanka for a short hike.

The lake was such a beautiful color.

Banff Springs Golf Course has been on our bucket list for a while, so exciting to play it despite the Alberta Resident great deal of $224. Ouch! We played with a couple of members who were very engaging and helpful. The course is very beautiful and great to play once but over priced for sure.

We did encounter an elk herd on the 6th hole right in front of the tee box. A large male had a harem of 24 females and this guy was very protective of his group as another male could be heard down by the river. Watching the antics of the elk was fascinating and was easy to get distracted from golf by the wildlife and magnificent scenery.

One of the fellows playing with us is a waiter at the Walhaus at the hotel and came to Banff from Ottawa 13 years ago for a year and was enchanted enough to stay. Waiters in Banff must do well to be a member at that course. He encouraged us to go to his restaurant for supper but cold and wet from lots of drizzle so Boston Pizza instead.

Off home to Edmonton the next morning before the snow started and of course more road construction on the way. Nevertheless a fun and worthwhile trip as we played 5 new courses and more time in the motorhome which we enjoy a lot.

  1. Great trip guys. You were lucky with the elk. They had to put a couple males down this summer around Banff as they were aggressive towards people. See you in Utah. Can’t wait. R and K

Wow! Is that the ugliest approach to a green or what? 😄
Did your balls safely make it up there?
